Freedom vs Slavery

Edit: I started writing this after Marika's first comment and before I saw the Rita/Marika thread below. So please take these words in that context.

If I may add my 2 cents (centavos, pesos, kopecks, whatever).

As Marika so accurately pointed out, in RL there is economic slavery. Everything from actual physical servitude - think antebellum southern USA, where the slaves did not even owning their own bodies (their minds were always theirs), This, in some ways, still exists today, even in modern economies, where people desperate to improve their lives from impoverished regions or seeking personal freedom fall prey to human trafficking.

Then there is historical economic slavery . Think West Virginia and Welsh coal towns, and even in some third world counties today, where the mine's or farm's or factory's owners controlled every monetary decision, from what you earned to the cost of rent and food, with little or no opportunity to escape the system, even from generation to generation. This in contrast to modern economic slavery as described by Marika, where the sacrifices of one generation may improve the lot of the next, breaking the viscous cycle of poverty. The latter generations are the ones to finally experience freedom.

What do these economic levels have in common? The structure of the societies in which they exist. The members, or victims if you will, of those societies are subject to the rules of the societies, however enforced, be it the lash, imprisonment, or just censure. And to break out of those rules takes change, sometimes quiet and gradual, up to and including violent revolution.

How does this apply to RLC, and specifically to Noir you ask? (That's if you are polite, otherwise it's "where the hell is she going with this?" if you've read this far.)

We enter RLC in a position of freedom. None of us is born into a virtual system of repression, where the overseer, the pimp, the trafficker, or "the man" controls our lives. We voluntarily sit down at our key boards, build a virtual personae, as close or wildly different from our real selves as we want, But we are entering a society with it's own rules, the EUA. Violate the EUA, and RLC can eject you without warning or due process. Don't believe me? Read the EUA. Granted there is usually a warning, but High, Middle, and Low Justice resides with Utherverse management. We can live by these virtual rules - Or. Just. Leave.

Ok, say you abide by the EUA, as most of us do. There are the unwritten rules of how we interact with the other virtual persons. Mostly, this boils down to the Golden Rule, treat others as we would want to be treated ourselves. Violate this, and the punishment is that others won't interact with you, from something as simple as not talking with you when you enter a venue, to the ultimate censure, the "Iggy" button. Get "iggied" enough, and you will bail from RLC.

So, you've shown that you are a decent enough person, you bathe, brush your teeth and hair (virtually of course) and don't kick puppies or kittens. But then you decide to join a microcosm of the overall RLC society, like a family, a business, or a club. These entities have their own rules of both initial acceptance and continued membership, and penalties for not abiding with them. Thus, they are the structure of the individual society.

In the case of Noir, it is both a business and a club, the former for Ladies, and the latter for both Ladies and Members. Rules for both are published, as well as the punishments for violating them. Like entering RLC, nobody forces you to join Noir. If you want to become a Lady of Noir, agree to the rules. If you want to continue to be a Lady of Noir, obey the rules. They are consistent, and while they can change, never capriciously. If you have a problem with a rule, take it up with management, and present your case. And hear management out if they "counsel" you.

Remember the rules are there for a reason, mainly to preserve the essence of Noir, an exclusive Gentleman's and Lady's club. Embrace this concept, and you will understand and obey the rules, earn friendships, respect, and rays,

If you do not embrace the concept - You. Can. Just. Leave. Don't wait for Simoni, or Cyndi, or the other managers and Ladies to get fed up with your attitude. Leave on good terms, follow the rules you wish to make for yourself. In time, you may come to realize the value of Noir's rules, and want to come back!

I've had to leave RLC because of my RL situation. But I would love to return, and I still consider myself, with Simoni's approval, to be a Lady of Noir. And as Rita says, "Proud to be".

When you live or are part of a community, you always have to pay attention to some rules of coexistence, you can call them, regulations, laws, etc. They are necessary for coexistence!

Then there is your individual freedom. And it is true that your freedom has to accommodate within the rules of the community where you are.

But remember that you are free to enter Noir or not want to take part (it's our freedom).

If at any time one's freedom is hurt or that one feels that one does not feel comfortable, then it is time to go. Go with respect, go with your head held high, leaving friends and not enemies.

A person's behavior is important and has to be in accordance with his sense of freedom.

I can tell you that I don't agree with things that happen in Noir and Simoni knows it. And when my own personal freedom is pressured or forced to do things I don't want then I know it's time to say goodbye.

But that moment has not yet arrived. Well, I feel good in Noir and I have the opportunity to meet amazing people! Sex? It's almost secondary! Well, what matters is keeping the member and for that, something more than sex is needed.

Yesterday a difficult situation occurred for me in NOir

There was a member with whom I was dancing, and another arrived who wanted to be with me and who also had a session but he never claimed me, but he kept it in mind. And I knew that the other member I am always with would come later.

There were few ladies, therefore impossible to ask for help

So I had to ask the first to please leave me early to be able to be with the second, there was no problem, because if things are done honestly and sincerely it is always easier.

But the problem was later. Being with the second member prevented me from being safely with the other. And I knew that the other would be very angry. I thought about it and decided to be with the second, even risking my relationship with the other

I did it because I thought it was the right thing even at the risk of losing the other member

I did it without looking at my own interest. I did it because it was the right thing to do, knowing the circumstances.

And it is clear that the other member got very angry, but I am lucky perhaps to meet people who have understanding and who despite the anger he was with me or two minutes

I want to explain this as a sign that it is not easy to be a noir lady, and that sometimes you have to know how to act and decide. And you have to make decisions that are consistent with our own freedom as people but at the same time trying not to harm others. nobody

I didn't want to give the names of the three members but I guess it's easy to know who they are

And as they say, the freedom of one person ends where the freedom of another person begins.

All this to say that the rules and norms are necessary for a coexistence and if someone does not agree, then they are free to leave.

This is an oriented vision of freedom. As for slavery, it is known that anyone working for someone else is part of modern slavery. Today's slavery earns just enough to rent feed and travel to work. If for any reason one is submitted to that definition he /she is a slave.

Looking at Noir, all of us are under a hybrid version of modern slavery. We are by rules obligated to certain restrictions and at the same time, we have the possibility to improve our condition based on our success as a Lady. That would be partial freedom, but still under the modern slavery principle.

And, real freedom resides in a choice between remaining a Noir Lady under rules, restriction, and oriented success, or acting according to our real values. Each of us has different visions of our future. There is a fine line between Noir Freedom and individual freedom.

To conclude I want to emphasize the notion of freedom, and precisely that it is based on education, information, and opportunities. Make your freedom as you feel it, and don't force it on others.
